Don’t Miss Out On The Ice Cream Festival!

Ice Cream Festival

There is no better way to cool down during the summer season than with a delicious ice cream cone, and there is no better place to enjoy that ice cream than at the 9th Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival!

This weekend, on August 8th, head out to Fiesta Gardens to enjoy all that this local event has to offer. Entry into the event is just $10, and gives you access to free ice cream!  Bring the whole family out from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and try some of the most delicious ice creams available.

Along with the ice cold treats to enjoy, there will also be contests on site. If you have a favorite ice cream recipe that you think is the best in the area, you will not want to miss out on the Homemade Ice Cream Making Contest. Simply bring your own ice cream to the festival and see how you stack up against other ice cream makers. If you are looking for something more creative, then get ready for the Popsicle Stick Sculpture Contest. You have the option to build your creation at home and bring it to the festival, or make it on the grounds. You can use your own decorations and adhesives, but the main building material has to be popsicle sticks.

The Austin Ice Cream Festival has had the privilege to donate to many local charities and organizations in the area, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Austin Children’s Shelter, Habibis Hutch, and much more.

All of us at the Insurance Agency of Dean Davis in Austin, Texas would like to invite you and your family out to enjoy this local event!

Mark Your Calendar For The Go Texan Restaurant Round-Up

A Tasty Event Is Coming Up!

All month long, you have the chance to enjoy a delicious meal paired with the warm feeling you get for giving back. That is because July brings us the Go Texan Restaurant Round-Up. During this great event, you have the chance to support restaurants that are serving food sourced from local growers, producers, and ranchers while also supporting local food banks.

All you have to do to get involved in the Go Texan Restaurant Roundup to find a local participating restaurant. Some restaurants will be serving their local-focused menu all month, while others will be hosting special events highlighting local dishes. You can drink your support, too, as a number of participants will be pouring local wine and beer!

Supporting your local food sources is not the only benefit of the Restaurant Round-Up. By dining at participating restaurants, you also support their efforts to benefit their local food banks. Each restaurants will be hosting either an event (e.g. a can drive) or a menu feature that will give directly back to their food bank.

There is yet another benefit of participating in the Round-Up! If you do and you complete their survey, you can be entered to win an overnight stay, winery tour, and breakfast at Messina Hof Winery & Resort.

With so many great benefits that can impact your state, your local community, and even your family, there is no reason not to take advantage of the 2015 Go Texan Restaurant Round-Up!

Avoid a DUI This New Year’s With These Tips

Avoid a DUI This New Year’s With These Tips

New Year’s Safety Tips

As the 2014 year comes to an end, it is the perfect time to get out your party clothes and plan for all of your holiday festivities. No matter how you decide to ring in 2015, it is important to make sure you know how to stay safe. Keep these New Year’s safety tips in mind to ensure that your New Year does not end in disaster or a DUI.

  • Have a designated driver – if you have a friend who does not enjoy drinking, ask them to be your designated driver. Make sure that your designated driver stays sober the entire night since just one drink can affect their driving ability.
  • Stay close to home – if you live in an area that has plenty of fun restaurants and bars, consider walking to your favorite place. If you do choose to walk, make sure that you wear light colored clothing and follow all of the traffic lights.
  • Use public transportation – public transportation is very inexpensive and will take you throughout the city. As an added bonus, many cities offer free public transit on New Year’s Eve.
  • Call a cab – if you split the cost of a cab between you and your friends, it will be very cheap. In addition, a cab will pick you up at your house and drop your off at the exact location of your party.
  • Look for free services – there are many services that are free on New Year’s Eve to help ensure that you get home safely. AAA offers free rides home in many cities across the country. Call your local AAA to see if you can benefit from a free ride.

All of us at the Insurance Agency of Dean Davis in Austin, Texas would like to wish you and your family a happy and safe New Year, and would like to thank you for allowing us to provide you with all of your insurance needs.
